Grand Tour - July & August 2017
I will be travelling to Europe in July to undertake a month long two leg cycling tour through France and Italy.
The first leg of the tour goes from Nice to Alpe d'Huez through the southern and central alps with some of the well known peaks on the riding schedule being: Mount Ventoux; Col de la Bonette; Col du Vars; Col d'Izoard; Col du Galibier; Col du Lautaret; Col du Telegraph; Alpe d'Huez; Col de la Croix de Fer.
The second leg of the tour goes from Milan to Venice through the Italian Alps and Dolomites with some of the well known peaks on the riding schedule being: Madonna del Ghisallo; Muro di Sormano; Passo di Gavia; Stelvio; Mortirolo; Passo Costalunga; Gardena; Pordoi and Sella.
This is very much a climbing tour with climbs scheduled every day we are riding. We will also witness the final two mountain stages of the Tour de France.
While I hope to record progress on a daily basis, this will very much depend on how I feel after riding (hopefully) 80 to 100 kilometres each day with a lot of climbing and activities post ride. Climbs in excess of 3,000 and 4,000 metres are scheduled on some days.
